Local Chaplaincy Committee (LCC)
Sandy Strait State School is fortunate to have a Chaplain who oversees a small committee of students who aim to organise engaging and fun activities for students at our school. The Chaplain is available, with parents / guardian permission, to speak with students about concerns or issues they may be experiencing in their lives. The Chaplaincy Program is an optional initiative offered by the school.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, a nutritious breakfast is available for students, in our coattage, from 8am – 8.30am. This program is coordinated to support students who may have not had the opportunity to eat breakfast at home. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Each year, beautiful Hervey Bay celebrates the arrival of majestic whales that make their way past our shores. As part of this celebration Hervey Bay has an illuminated light parade that organisations are invited to participate in with a festive float. Sandy Strait has participated in this event over the years, not only to promote our wonderful school and students, but also to highlight the importance of the environment, and of course, the wonderful whales.
