Curriculum Planning Tasks
Over the next fortnight teachers from across the school will be involved in curriculum planning tasks for the Semester ahead.
This week the following year levels will be working on tasks:
Monday 16/6 Year 3 and 2/3 M teachers. Thursday 19/6 Year 1 and OP1 teachers
Tuesday 17/6 Year 7 teachers Friday 20/6 Year 2 teachers.
Wednesday 18/6 Year 5 teachers
Next week planning continues with Year 6, Prep and Year 4 teachers.
These planning days are a vital component of our Whole School Curriculum Plan as teachers work cooperatively in their teams to develop Learning Journey’s based on Education Queensland’s Essential Learnings. Relieving teachers have been organised to replace teachers during these tasks.
Under 8’s Celebrations on Wednesday the 25th June.
As you know our planned celebrations for Under 8’s and Education Week were postponed due to rain and poor weather. Under 8’s Celebrations are now scheduled to occur next Wednesday the 25th June from 9.00 – 10.30. We are hoping that we will be blessed with lovely weather so we can all venture out to participate in some fantastic “hands on” activities and enjoy the joys of early childhood. Parents are welcome to
attend and share in a morning of festivities that will span the junior school undercover areas, building surrounds and oval areas.
Come along and join all of our Prep – Year 3 children and families for a morning of fun.
Assembly performances.
Unfortunately last week I missed our 2/3 M children performing on assembly due to a Leadership and Learning conference attended by our whole leadership team. I have heard that the children and Mr Madden did a wonderful job performing on Junior Assembly. This week on Junior Assembly 3W will be performing for us as they celebrate the culmination of their Learning Journey. Our OP1 students will also be performing
some songs they have chosen as part of their work with their year 4 reading buddies. OP1 will also perform for the senior assembly.
Please come along and join our students as they celebrate their learning as part of our assembly program.
Learning Celebration Activities Continue.
This week 3S and 3T will be celebrating their learning and the culmination of their Learning Journey “ Who Lives Across the Sea and How Do We Get There?” On Wednesday the 18th June from 2.15pm the parents of 3S are invited to come along to their child’s classroom. The children
will share their great work and new found knowledge on Chinese and Australian way of life. On Friday 20th June the parents of 3T are invited to attend their child’s classroom. Parents will participate in a quiz conducted by the children, share some wonderful work and participate in hands on Kite Making. Children in 3T are invited to come dressed in a Pirate or Chinese Theme to celebrate their Learning Journey. We hope that you are able to come along and share in the wonderful work our children have produced this
semester.
Mrs Lee on Sick Leave this week.
Mrs Narelle McClosky will continue her contract in 2L this week replacing Mrs Robyn Lee who is on sick leave. We wish Mrs Lee a speedy recovery and we are hoping that she will return to work soon.
Prep Parent Teacher Meetings.
Over the next 2 weeks Prep teachers will be inviting parents to one on one meetings to discuss children’s progress against the Early Learning Record. This is a great opportunity for parents to discuss children’s progress to date and to gain an insight into areas to focus on for the Semester ahead. Please contact your child’s Prep teacher for further information regarding dates and times.
News from the Senior School Years 47 Bruce Jackson Deputy Principal
AFL and Rugby League Champions
As we all know by now our school’s AFL team is the best primary school side in the Wide Bay. Tomorrow the team travels to Bundaberg with super coach Mr. Baldwin (who incidentally is one of the managers of the State team this year) and our AFL fanatic Chaplain, Mr. Morgan to participate in the country championships. The team will play both the winners out of the Sunshine Coast and Capricornia Regions. We wish them all the very best. Many of the AFL team members will back up on Friday and play in the Wide Bay Regional Primary School’s Rugby League championships. This game will decide who is the best primary school rugby league side in the Region. The team plays Walkervale from Bundaberg. We wish them all the very best as well.
Report Cards
Student report cards will be distributed in the last week of term. This semester’s report card will outline student progress over the last 2 terms. In Term 1 parents were invited to participate in an interview with their child’s teacher to discus progress and concerns. This time no formal arrangement have been made for parent interviews. However, parents are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher to arrange an interview if they wish to discus their child’s progress in more detail than what the report card may outline.
Learning Journey Celebrations
Parents are invited to attend a celebration of their child’s Semester 1 learning. Please contact your child’s teacher for details.
